Of the visions given to God’s servants, the prophets, there seemed to be two kinds—one called “open vision,” or those given where the individual could be seen while in the vision; and the other called “night visions.” Reference is made to the former vision in 1 Samuel 3:1, where is found the experience of the child Samuel in these words: “The word of the Lord was precious in those days; there was no open vision.” GSAM 457.1
