With the manner of their deliverance, everybody is familiar; how at the command of the Lord the sea went back and left a path through the midst of it, so that the children of Israel went through dry-shod, and how when the Egyptians attempted to do the same thing, the sea rushed back and swallowed them up. “When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language, ... the sea saw it and fled.” 2Psalm 114:1-3.
