Abram and Abraham EVCO 81

The name Abram signifies “Father of height.” Abram’s father was a heathen, and the name may have had some reference to heathen worship in high places. But now his name becomes Abraham, “Father of many peoples.” In the change of name in the cases of Abraham and Jacob, we have a hint of the new name which the Lord gives to all who are His. (See Revelation 2:17; 3:12.) “And thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name.” 2Isaiah 62:2. EVCO 81.2
