James Paul Stauffer, dean of the Graduate School and professor of English at Loma Linda University since 1964, is a specialist in the literature and art forms of Western civilization. From 1942-1964, he was a member of the English department at Pacific Union College, for several years chairman of the division of language and literature. He earned his Ph.D. at Harvard in 1952. In recent years he has led study tours to Europe and the Holy Land, followed by several extended visits gathering material for a forthcoming book. WEWMM 187.1
