There is one matter I failed to mention in my last letter to you. It was in regard to the connection of our work with Fannie Bolton. This is suggested by the check you sent for her. I have put it away in my locked tin box for present. The fact is she is not working on either the Corliss matter, nor on my book. She came back from Chicago a few days ago and stated that she had all the work she could do and so could not attend to my work. Under the circumstances I considered this a piece of imposition and would not trust her with work under any consideration. I know her circumstances when you gave her work, and how she needed it. She was very grateful at the time, but as soon as others gave her enough to do all other agreements and obligations were of no account. I guess mother is not far from right in her estimate of her and I will do well to heed her instruction in her last letter to me which was to have nothing to do with her. FBS 87.5
