    Lesson 9

Section 12 — Saving to Give

Section 13 — The Sacredness of Vows and Pledges

    Introduction

This lesson can help you more fully understand and appreciate a principle of life taught by Jesus: “Freely ye have received, freely give” (Matt. 10:8).CS-SG 48.1

Giving a gift, whether of time, abilities, possessions, or body temple, is to be the fruit of our relationship with God. The more we know Him, the more we love Him. The more we love Him, the more this love is demonstrated by our gifts of what He has enriched our lives with.CS-SG 48.2

In this setting, saving in order to give more is not a burden. Pledges and covenant decisions are not merely amounts we attempt to give by specific times. They are manifestations of a sacred relationship with the Creator. We support His cause because we love Him.CS-SG 48.3
