Timothy

Timothy 1

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;KJRV — 1Timothy 1:1

Unto Timothy, (Acts 19:22; 1 Corinthians 4:17; 2 Corinthians 1:19) my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.KJRV — 1Timothy 1:2

As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,KJRV — 1Timothy 1:3

Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.KJRV — 1Timothy 1:4

Now the end of the commandment is charity (Matthew 7:12; Luke 6:31; Romans 13:8) out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:KJRV — 1Timothy 1:5

From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;KJRV — 1Timothy 1:6

Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.KJRV — 1Timothy 1:7

But we know that the law is good, (Romans 7:12) if a man use it lawfully;KJRV — 1Timothy 1:8

Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless (Revelation 21:8) and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,KJRV — 1Timothy 1:9

For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;KJRV — 1Timothy 1:10

According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.KJRV — 1Timothy 1:11

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful (1 Corinthians 7:25) , putting me into the ministry; (2 Corinthians 3:6; 2 Corinthians 4:1; Colossians 1:25)KJRV — 1Timothy 1:12

Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor (Acts 8:3; Acts 9:1; Acts 26:11; 1 Corinthians 15:9; Philippians 3:6) , and injurious: but I obtained mercy, (Matthew 12:32) because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.KJRV — 1Timothy 1:13

And the grace (Luke 7:47) of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.KJRV — 1Timothy 1:14

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; (Matthew 9:13; Matthew 18:11; Luke 19:10; Romans 5:8; 1 John 3:5) of whom I am chief.KJRV — 1Timothy 1:15

Howbeit for this cause I obtained (1 Corinthians 7:25) mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.KJRV — 1Timothy 1:16

Now unto the King (Psalms 10:16; Daniel 7:14) eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.KJRV — 1Timothy 1:17

This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies (1 Timothy 4:14) which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;KJRV — 1Timothy 1:18

Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:KJRV — 1Timothy 1:19

Of whom is Hymenaeus (2 Timothy 2:17) and Alexander (2 Timothy 4:14) ; whom I have delivered unto Satan, (Job 2:6; Psalms 109:6; 1 Corinthians 5:5) that they may learn not to blaspheme.KJRV — 1Timothy 1:20
