    37—ILiwa Elabethwayo

    [Esi sahluko sisekwe kwiNumeri 20:1-13.]

    Kwiliwa elabethwayo eHorebhe, kwaqala kwampompoza umsinga ophilayo owahlaziya uIsrayeli entlango. Kuzo zonke iihambo zabo, lonke ixesha kukho isidingo, babenikwa amanzi ngommangaliso wenceba kaThixo. Noko kunjalo, amanzi awazange ayeke ukubaleka ukusuka eHorebhe. Naphina apho kwiihambo zabo babeye bafune amanzi, ayetsaza ezingxondorheni zamawa kufuphi apho bamise khona.ANa 411.1

    YayinguKristu, ngamandla elizwi laKhe, owenza ukuba umsinga ohlaziyayo umpompozele uIsrayeli. “Basela bonke olo luselo lunye lulolomoya . . . iliwa elo ke lalinguye uKristu.” 1 Korinte 10:4. Wayelithende lazo zonke iintsikelelo zexesha lasenyameni nezasemoyeni. UKristu, iLiwa eliyinyaniso, waye enabo kuko konke ukuzula kwabo. “abanxanwanga, ebahambisa engqaqasini; wabatsitsisela amanzi eweni; wacanda iliwa, atsaza amanzi.” “abaleka amanzi, ahamba engumlambo emqwebedwini.” Isaya 48:21; Ndumiso 105:41.ANa 411.2

    Iliwa elabethwayo lalingumfuziselo kaKristu, kwaza kwathi ngalo mfuziselo, kwafundiswa ezona nyaniso zinexabiso zikamoya. Njengokuba ayempompoza eliweni amanzi anika ubomi, ngokunjalo kuKristu owaba “ngobandezelwayo nguThixo,” “[no]hlatywe ngenxa yezikreqo zethu, watyunyuzwa ngenxa yezenzo zethu” (Isaya 53:4, 5), umsinga wosindiso umpompozela uhlanga olulahlekileyo. Njengoko iliwa lalibethwe kwakanye, ngokunjalo noKristu kwakufuneka “esondezwe kwaba kanye ukuba asithwale asisuse isono sabaninzi.” Hebhere 9:28.     Ukumpompoza kwamanzi ephuma eliweni entlango, kwenzelwa isikhumbuzo ngamaIsrayeli, emva kokuba emile eKanan, ngemiboniso yovuyo olukhulu. Ngexesha likaKristu, esi sikhumbuzo saba ziinkonzo ezinomtsalane kakhulu. Sasisenzeka ngesiganeko soMthendeleko weMinquba, xa abantu abaphuma kulo lonke ilizwe babehlanganisene eYerusalem. Kusuku ngalunye kwezisixhenxe zesidlo, ababingeleli babephuma ngomculo kunye nekwayala yabaLevi kukhiwe amanzi ngomphanda wegolide kumthombo waseSilowa. Amanzi ahlaziyayo, enyuka kumhlaba owomileyo nongumqwebedu, enze ukuba indawo eyintlango ityatyambe, ampompoze anike ubomi kwabatshabalalayo, aluphawu lobabalo lwezulu inguKristu kuphela onokulunika, nolunjengamanzi aphilayo, ahlambululayo, ahlaziyayo, avuselela umphefumlo. Lowo ahleli kuye uKristu, ngaphakathi kwakhe unomthombo ongatshiyo wobabalo namandla. UYesu uyabudlamkisa ubomi, ayikhanyise indlela yabo bonke abamfuna ngenyaniso.     Kwalo mfuziselo mnye, uKristu wawusebenzisa kwincoko yaKhe nomfazi waseSamariya equleni likaYakobi: “Ke yena othe waselakuwoamanzi,endiyakumphawonamna, akasayi kuza anxanwe naphakade; aya kusuka amanzi, endiya kumpha wona, abe ngumthombo kuye wamanzi ampompozela ebomini obungunaphakade. Yohane 4:14. UKristu wahlanganisa imifuziselo emibini. Uliliwa, ungamanzi aphilayo.ANa 412.3

    Kwayona le mifuziselo mihle nezisa umyalezo ngokucacileyo, ifumaneka kuyo yonke iBhayibhile. Ubuya anike ingxelo yesithembiso esixabisekileyo, ngokuzisa engqondweni ngokucacileyo umsinga ophilayo ompompozela uIsrayeli: “Ke abaziintsizana nabangamahlwempu baya kufuna amanzi, angabikho, ulwimi lwabo lome linxano; mna Yehova ndiya kubaphendula, mna, Thixo kaIsrayeli, andiyi kubashiya.” “Ndiya kugalela amanzi phezu kwabanxaniweyo, nemiqukuqela yamanzi phezu kwelizwe elomileyo;” kuya kugqobhoza amanzi entlango, nemilambo enkqantosini.” Kukhutshwa isimemo, “Wenani, nonke nina ninxaniweyo, yizani emanzini.” Isaya 41:17; 44:3; 35:6; 55:1. Amaphepheni avalayo eLizwini eliNgcwele, siyaphindwa esi simemo. Umlambo wamanzi obomi, “ococeke njengekristale,” uphuma kwitrone kaThixo neMvana; ubizo lobabalo luvakala lubiza kwizizukulwana, “Lowo uthandayo, makawathabathe amanzi obomi ngesisa.” IsiTyhilelo 22:17.ANa 413.2

    Kanye phambi kokuba umkhosi wamaHebhere ufike eKadeshe, umthombo ophilayo wayeka ukubaleka, ukanti wawutsaza iminyaka ngaphandle kwendawo ababemise kuyo. Yaye iyinjongo kaYehova ukuvavanya abantu baKhe. Wayeza kubona ukuba baya kukuthemba na ukubonelela kwaKhe okanye balinganise ukungakholwa kooyise.ANa 413.3

    Ngoku babezibonaiinduli zaseKanan. Kuhambolweentsukunje ezimbalwa, babeya kufika kwimida yeLizwe leDinga. Wawumncinane kakhulu umgama bafike kwaEdom, indawo eyayiyeyenzala kaEsawu, neyayicanda kuyo indlela enyuliweyo esinga eKanan. Umkhondo wawunikwe uMoses, “Bhekani ngasentla, ubawisele abantu umthetho uthi, Niya kugqitha nje emdeni wabazalwana benu, oonyana bakaEsawu, abemi kwaSehire. Baya kunoyika. . . . Ukudla nokuthenga kubo ngemali, nidle; namanzi nowemba kubo ngemali, nisele.” Duteronomi 2:3-6. Le mikhondo yayimele ukuba yanele ukuchaza ukuba kutheni ukuze anqanyulwe amanzi; babekufuphi ukuba bacande kwilizwe elinamanzi kakhulu, nelityebileyo, kwindlela eqonde ngqo kwilizwe laseKanan. UThixo wayebathembise indlela engenazo iinkathazo ecanda kwaEdom, nethuba lokuthenga ukutya, namanzi anele ukuba awuxhase umkhosi. Ukuyeka ukumpompoza okungummangaliso kwamanzi kwakumele ukuba ngunobangela wovuyo, uphawu lokuba ukuzula entlango kwakuphelile. Ukuba babengamfamekiswanga kukungakholwa kwabo, ngebabeyiqondile le nto. Noko kunjalo, oko kwakumele ukuba sisibonakaliso sokuzaliseka kwesithembiso sikaThixo, kwenziwa ithuba lokuthandabuza nokukrokra. Abantu bakhangeleka ngathi balilahle lonke ithemba lokuba uThixo uya kubazisa ekufumaneni iKanan, baza bakhalela iintsikelelo zasentlango.ANa 414.1

    Phambi kokuba uThixo abavumele ukuba bangene eKanan, kufuneka babonise ukuba bayakholelwa kwisithembiso saKhe. Amanzi athi nqumama phambi kokuba bafike kwaEdom. Ngoku yayilithuba labo, okomzuzwana, ukuba bahambe ngokholo endaweni yokubona. Isilingo sokuqala sasivuse umoya ofanayo oxubayeleyo, ongenambulelo owabonakalaliswa ngooyise. Akubanga kudala, savakala isikhalo sokufuna amanzi enkampini, sebesilibele isandla esabaxhasayo kwiimfuno zabo iminyaka emininzi, bathi endaweni yokubhenela kuThixo ukufuna uncedo, bamkrokrela, bephelelwe lithemba, bakhala, “Akwaba sibe siphume umphefumlo oko abazalwana bethu baphuma umphefumlo phambi koYehova.” (Numeri 20:1-13); oko kukuthi banqwenela ukuba babe babeyinxalenye yeqela elatshatyalaliswa kuvukelo lukaKora.ANa 414.2

    Izikhalo zabo zajoliswa [ngokulwa] kuMoses nakuAron: “Yini na ukuba nisingenise isikhungu sikaYehova kule ntlango, sifele kuyo, thina neenkomozethu?”Yini na ukubanisinyuse eYiputa, nisizise kule ndawo imbi kangaka? Asindawo yambewu, namakhiwane, namidiliya, nazirharnate, tu namanzi okusela!”ANa 414.3

    Iinkokeli zaya emnyango womnquba zawa ngobuso bazo. Kwakhona “babonakala ubuqaqawuli bukaYehova,” waza uMoses wayalelwa, “Yithabathe intonga, ulibizele ndawonye ibandla, wena noAron umkhuluwa wakho, nithethe engxondorheni phambi kwabo, inike amanzi ayo.”ANa 417.1

    Umntu nomntakwabo baya phambi kwesihlwele, uMoses ephethe intonga kaThixo esandleni sakhe. Babesele bekhulile ngoku. Kwakukudala benyamezele uvukelo neenkani zikaIsrayeli; kodwa ngoku, ekugqibeleni, nokaMoses umonde wawusewuphela. “Khanive, nina baneenkani,” wankqangaza watsho, “Sinikhuphele amanzi kule ngxondorha na?” wathi endaweni yokuba athethe neliwa, njengoko uThixo wayemyalele, walibetha kabini ngentonga.ANa 417.2

    Amanzi atsaza amaninzi ngokwaneleyo ukuba awanele umkhosi. Sekunjalo, kwenzeka umonakalo omkhulu. UMoses wathetha ecaphukile; amazwi akhe ayebonisa imvakalelo yomntu endaweni yengqumbo engcwele kuba uThixo akazange azukiswe. “Khanive, nina baneenkani,” watsho. Esi sityholo sasiyinyaniso, kodwa nenyaniso akufuneki ithethwe ngokutshiseka okanye ngokukruquka. Xa uThixo wayeyalela uMoses ukuba alibeke kuIsrayeli ityala lovukelo lwabo, amazwi ayebuhlungu kuye, enzima kubo ukuba bawanyamezele, kodwa uThixo wamxhasa ekusidluliseni isigidimi. Wathi kodwa akuthabathela kuye ukubabeka ityala, wamenza buhlungu uMoya kaThixo wazisa umonakalo kuphela ebantwini. Ukuswela kwakhe umonde nokuzilawula kwakucacile. Ngalo ndlela abantu banikwa ithuba lokufuna ukuqonda ukuba ingaba indlela yakhe yangaphambili yayithatyathwa phantsi komyalelo kaThixo na, baza bazithethelela nezabo izono. UMoses, kwanje ngabo, wayemonile uThixo. Indlela yakhe, batsho, kwasekuqaleni yayifanelwe ukugxekwa ikhalinyelwe. Babefumene ngoku isizathu ababekade besilangazelela sokwala konke ukuthethisa uThixo awayekuthumele kubo ngomkhonzi waKhe.ANa 417.3

    UMoses wabonakalalisa ukungamthembi uThixo. “Sinikhuphele amanzi?” wabuza, ngokungathi uYehova wayengayi kwenza njengoko wayethembisile. “Ngokuba ningakholwanga kum,” watsho uYehova kubazalwana ababini, “ukuba nindingcwalise emehlweni oonyana bakaIsrayeli.” Ngexesha amanzi ayephelile, olwabo ukholo ekuzalisekeni kwesithembiso sikaThixo lwashukunyiswa kukukrokra nokuvukela kwabantu.Isizukulwanasokuqalasagwetyelwaukubasitshabalale entlango ngenxa yokungakholwa kwaso, ukanti kwaloo moya wabonakala kubantwana babo. Ingaba naba baza kungasifumani isithembiso? Bediniwe, betyhafile, uMoses noAron babezamile ukuthintela umsinga wemvakalelo eqhelekileyo. Ukuba bona ngokwabobabebonakalalise ukholo olungagungqiyo kuThixo, ngebabewubeke umcimbi phambi kwabantu ngendlela eyayiya kubenza ukuba bakwazi ukulunyamezela uvavanyo. Ukuba babethe, ngokukhawuleza nangokuthe gca, basebenzisa igunya abalinikiweyo njengabagwebi, ngebabekwazile ukukudambisa ukukrokra. Yayiluxanduva lwabo ukwenza zonke iinzame ezisemandleni abo ukuzimisa ngendlela izinto kwangaphambi kokuba bacele ukuba uThixo enzele bona umsebenzi. Ukuba ukukrokra eKadeshe kwakunqandwe kwangoko, wawuya kuba ngakanani umqokozo wobubi engeba babuthintelwe!ANa 417.4

    Ngesenzo sakhe sokudyuduzela, uMoses wawasusa amandla esifundo uThixo awayejonge ukusifundisa. Iliwa, elingumfuziselo kaKristu, lalibethwe kwaba kanye, njengoko uKristu wanikelwa kwaba kanye. Kwixesha lesibini kwakufuneka kuphela ukuba kuthethwe neliwa, njengoko kufuneka kuphela ukuba sicele iintsikelelo egameni likaYesu. Ngokubethwa kwesibini kweliwa, ukubaluleka kwalo mfuziselo umhle kaKristu kwachitheka.ANa 418.1

    Ngaphezu koku, uMoses noAron bathabathela kubo amandla angakaThixo kuphela. Ukufuneka kongenelelo lwezulu kwasenza esi siganeko ukuba sibe nendili enkulu, kwaye iinkokeli zakwaIsrayeli zazimelwe kukusenza sikhulu ukuze abantu bakubone ukunikwa kukaThixo imbeko nokuze kuqiniswe ukukholelwa kwabo kumandla aKhe nokulunga kwaKhe. Xa bathi ngomsindo bakhwaza, “Sinikhuphele amanzi?” bazibeka endaweni kaThixo ngokungathi amandla alele kubo, babe bengabantu abanobuthakathaka nemvakalelo. Ekruqukile kukusoloko kukrokrwa novukelo lwabantu, uMoses walahlekana nokumbona uMncedi onguSomandla, wathi engenawo amandla ezulu, wasala engcolisa ingxelo yakhe ngokubonisa ubuthakathaka bobuntu bakhe. Indoda engeyayimi inyulu, izinzile, ingajonge kuzenzela yona kude kube sekupheleni komsebenzi wayo, yoyiswa ekugqibeleni. UThixo akazange azukiswe phambi kwebandla lakwaIsrayeli, xa kanye kwakufuneka enziwe mkhulu, aphakanyiswe.ANa 418.2

    UThixo akazange, kwesi siganeko, abeke butyala phezu kwabo abandlela yabo yacaphukisa kakhulu uMoses noAron. Konke ukukhalima kweza phezu kweenkokeli. Abo babemi bengabameli bakaThixo abazange bamzukise. UMoses noAron baziva boniwe, balahlekwa yinto yokuba ukukrokra kwabantu kwakungajonge Ukuchasa bona kodwa kuchase uThixo. Kwakungokukhangela kubo, kubhenela kolwabo uvelwano, okwenza ukuba bawe esonweni bengaqondanga, basilela ukubeka phambi kwabantu ubukhulu bokuba netyala kwabo, bona bantu, phambi kukaThixo.ANa 418.3

    Sasikrakra sikwathobela phantsi isigwebo esavakaliswa ngelo xesha. “Wathi uYehova kuMoses nakuAron, Ngokokuba ningakholwanga kum, ukuba nindingcwalise emehlweni oonyana bakaIsrayeli, ngoko aniyi kusingenisa esi sikhungu ezweni endibanika lona.” Kufuneka bafe noIsrayeli ovukelayo phambi kokuba kuwelwe iYordan. Ukuba uMoses noAron babenomoya wokuziphakamisa okanye baziyekele kumoya wengqumbo phambi kwesilumkiso nokukhalinyelwa, ityala labo ngelabalikhulu kakhulu. Bona ke, babengabekwa tyala lenkani okanye lokona ngabom; badlwengulwa sisilingo esikhawulezileyo, kwaza ukuba buhlungu kwabo kwakhawuleza kwaye kulusizi. UYehova wakwamkela ukuguquka kwabo nangona, ngenxa yomonakalo owawunokwenziwa sisono sabo phakathi kwabantu, wayengenakho ukusibuyisa isohlwayo.ANa 419.1

    UMoses akazange asifihle isigwebo sakhe, kodwa wabaxelela abantu ukuba, njengoko wasilela ukunika uzuko uThixo, wayengayi kubakhokela bangene eZweni leDinga. Wabacela ukuba bakuqaphele ukohlwaywa okuze phezu kwakhe, nokuba baqaphele indlela uThixo akuthabatha ngayo ukukrokra ngokubeka phezu komnye umntu nje izigwebo ezathi ngenxa yezono zabo zeza phezu kwabo. Wabaxelela nokuba wacengana njani noThixo ukuba asirhoxise isigwebo, kodwa kwaliwa. “Wandiphuphumela uYehova ngomsindo ngenxa yenu,” watsho, “akandiphulaphula.” Duteronomi 3:26.ANa 419.2

    Kwisiganeko ngasinye sobunzima okanye sokulingwa, amaIsrayeli ayehlala ekulungele ukubeka ityala kuMoses ngokubakhokelela ukuba baphume eYiputa, ngokungathi uThixo wayengenaso isithunywa kulo mcimbi. Kuko konke ukuhamba kwabo, njengoko babekhalaze ngobunzima endleleni, bakrokra ngakwiinkokeli zabo, uMoses wayebaxelela, “Ukukrokra kwenu kuchasene noThixo. Asindim, nguThixo, onihlanguleyo.” Noko kunjalo, amazwi akhe akhawulezayo, “sinikhuphele amanzi?” aye kukuvuma okucacileyo kwesimangalo ngakubo, aze ngoko abaqinise kukungakholwa kwabo nokuzithethelela ekukrokreni kwabo. UYehova wayeza kuyisusa le mbono ngonaphakade ezingqondweni zabo ngokuthi amalele uMoses ukuba angene eZweni leDinga. Silumkele, uliphulaphule izwi laso, . . . kuba igama lam likuso.” Eksodus 23:20, 21.ANa 419.3

    “Wandiphuphumela uYehova ngomsindo ngenxa yenu,” watsho uMoses. Amehlo kaIsrayeli onke aba phezu kukaMoses, saza isono sakhe sanika umfanekiso kaThixo, owamnyulayo njengenkokeli yabantu baKhe. Ukona kwakusaziwa libandla lonke; ukuba kwakuyekwe ngokulula, kwakuya kubakho ingqondo ethi, ukungakholwa nokuphelelwa ngumonde phantsi kokucatshukiswa okukhulu kungaxoleleka kwabo bakwizikhundla ezinoxanduva. Ngoko ke, kwathi kwakuvakaliswa ukuba, ngenxa yesono esinye kuphela uMoses noAron abasayi kungena eKanan, abantu bazi ukuba uThixo akamkhethi wamntu, nokuba, ngokuqinisekileyo, uya mohlwaya umoni.ANa 420.1

    Imbali kaIsrayeli kwakufuneka ibhalwe ezingxelweni ukuze ifundise ilumkise izizukulwana ezizayo. Abantu balo lonke ixesha elizayo kufuneka bambone uThixo wezulu njengomlawuli ongenamkhethe, ongasivumeliyo isono naphantsi kwayiphi imeko. Bambalwa kodwa ababuqondayo ububi obukhulu besono. Abantu bazikhohlisa ngokuthi, uThixo ulunge kakhulu ukuba angamohlwaya umoni. Ngokwembali yeBhayibhile, kucacile ukuba ukulunga kukaThixo nothando lwaKhe zizinto ezimenza ukuba asiphathe isono njengobubi obuyingozi kuxolo nolonwabo lwayo yonke indalo, eyiyunivesi.ANa 420.2

    Ubulungisa nokunyaniseka kukaMoses kwakungenako ukuyijika imbuyekezo yempazamo yakhe.
