Kwaphinda kwavela isiqhamo sikaDavide sokuyekela komzali. Owayexhunele etroneni ngoku yayinguAdoniya, “[o]bengumfo osiqu sihle,” ngenkangeleko nokumila, kodwa engenamthetho, engakhathali. Ngenxa yobulwelwe bomzimba wakhe, kwakungalindelekanga ukuba angabakho yena ngokwakhe kolu nikezelo; kodwa umoya kaThixo wamfikela, wathi, nangaphezu kokufuna nje namandla, wakwazi nokuthetha nabantu okokugqibela. Wabaxelela ngomnqweno wakhe wokwakha itempile, nomyalelo kaYehova wokuba umsebenzi uya kunikelwa kuSolomon unyana wakhe. Ingqinisekiso yezulu yayisithi, “USolomon unyana wakho, nguye oya kwakha indlu yam neentendelezo zam; ngokuba ndizinyulele yena ukuba abe ngunyana kum, ndibe nguyise. Ndibuzinzise ubukumkani bakhe kude kuse ephakadeni, ukuba uthe waqinisela ukuyenza imithetho yam namasiko am, njengoko kunjalo namhla.” “Ngoko ke,” watsho uDavide, “ndiyaniyala emehlweni nasezindlebeni zoThixo wethu: gcinani niquqele kuyo yonke imithetho kaYehova uThixo wenu, ukuze nilime eli lizwe lihle, nilishiye libe lilifa koonyana benu emva kwenu, kude kuse ephakadeni”ANa 750.2
UDavide wayekufunde kumava wakhe ukuba nzima kwendlela yomntu otenxayo kuThixo. UDavide wazi ukuba kuya kufuna intliziyo ethobekileyo, ukuhlala kuthenjelwe kuThixo, nokuphapha ngamaxesha onke ukumelana nezihendo eziya kuthi ngokuqinisekileyo zimphazamise uSolomon kwindawo ephakamileyo akuyo; kuba abantu abakwezo ndawo bangamaxhoba awodwa eenkolo zikaSathana. Waguqukela kunyana wakhe, owayesele eqinisekisiwe ukuba uya kumlandela etroneni, wathi uDavide, “Wena Solomon, nyana wam, uze umazi uThixo kayihlo, umkhonze ngentliziyo epheleleyo, nangomphefumlo ovumayo; ngokuba uYehova uyazingxoka zonke iintliziyo, akuqonde konke ukuyila kwengcinga zabantu. Ukuba uthe wamfuna, wofunyanwa nguwe; ukuba uthe wamshiya, wokulahla mpela. Uze ulumke ke; ngokuba uYehova ukunyule ukuba wakhe indlu ibe yeyengcwele. Yomelela uyenze.”ANa 750.3
UDavide wamnika uSolomon zonke iinkcukacha zokwakhiwa kwetempile, zinemiboniso yazo zonke iindawo, nazo zonke izixhobo zokusebenza, njengoko zazityhiliwe kuye yimpefumlelo engcwele. USolomon wayeselula, woyika ukuba umthwalo omkhulu kangako ube phezu kwakhe, ekwakhiweni kwetempile nasekulawuleni abantu bakaThixo. Wathi uDavide kunyana wakhe, “Yomelela ukhaliphe, wenze. Musa ukoyika, musa ukuqhiphuka umbilini; ngokuba uYehova uThixo, uThixo wam, unawe; akayi kukuyekela, akayi kukushiya.”ANa 751.1
Waphinda uDavide wabhenela ebandleni: “USolomon unyana wam, okuphela konyuliweyo nguThixo, mncinane, uthambile; ke umsebenzi mkhulu, ngokuba ibhotwe eli asilelomntu, lelikaYehova uThixo.” Wathi, “Ke, ngamandla am onke indlu kaThixo wam ndiyilungiselele.” Waqhubeka ezibala izixhobo aziqokeleleyo. Ukudlula apho, wathi, “Kananjalo ekubeni ilikholo kum indlu kaThixo wam, ndinengqobo yegolide nesilivere, endiyimisele indlu kaThixo wam, engaphandle kwayo yonke endiyilungisele indlu engcwele; amawaka amathathu eetalente zegolide yasegolideni yakwaOfire, amawaka asixhenxe eetalente zesilivere ehluziweyo yokwaleka iindonga zezindlu.” “Ngubani na ke,” wabuza isihlwele esasibuthene sizise izipho zaso zothando—“oqhutywa yintliziyo ukuzimisela namhla kuYehova?”ANa 751.2

Banikela kwinkonzo yendlu kaThixo igolide yaziitalente ezingamawaka amahlanu needarike ezilishumi lamawaka; nesilivere yaziitalente ezingamawaka alishumi, nobhedu lwaziitalente ezingamawaka alishumi elinesibhozo, nesinyithi saziitalente ezingamawaka alikhulu. Abo ke, kwafumaneka kubo amatye anqabileyo, bawanikela ebuncwaneni bendlu kaYehova. . . . Bakuvuyela abantu ukunikela kwabo ngokuqhutywa yintliziyo; ngokuba banikela ngokuqhutywa yintliziyo ephelelisileyo kuYehova. Kananjalo uDavide ukumkani wavuya ngovuyo okukhulu.ANa 751.3
“UDavide wambonga uYehova phambi kwebandla lonke; wathi uDavide, Mawubongwe wena, Yehova, Thixo kaIsrayeli, ubawo wethu, kususela kwaphakade kude kuse ephakadeni. Bobakho, Yehova, ubukhulu, namandla, nozuko, noloyiso, nendili. Ewe, konke okusezulwini nokusehlabathini kokwakho; bobakho, Yehova ubukumkani; uphakamile wayintloko yeento zonke. Ubutyebi nozuko luvela kuwe, ulawula zonke izinto; asesandleni sakho amandla nobugorha; kusesandleni sakho ukukhulisa nokomeleza zonke izinto. Ke ngoko, Thixo wethu, sinokubulela kuwe, sidumise igama lakho elibekekileyo. Ngokuba ndingubani na mna, bangoobani na abantu bam, ukuba side sibe namandla okunika ngokuqhutywa yintliziyo njengoku? Ngokuba zivela kuwe zonke izinto; sikunika okuvele esandleni sakho. Ngokuba singabaphambukeli phambi kwakho, silundwendwe njengoobawo bethu bonke; injengesithunzi imihla yethu ehlabathini apha, kungekho themba lakuhlala. YayinguYe owayenike abantu ubutyebi bomhlaba, waza uMoya waKhe wabenza ukuba bakhululeke ukunikela ngezinto zabo ezinexabiso etempileni. Saba sikhulu isiwo sikaDavide, kodwa yayinzulu inguquko yakhe, lunzulu uthando lwakhe, luqinile ukholo lwakhe. Waxolelwa kakhulu, ngenxa yoko wathanda kakhulu. Luka 7:48.ANa 754.3
Iindumiso zikaDavide zithubeleza kuluhlu lwamava, ukusuka kwiinzulu zobutyala besazela nokuzigweba kuse kolona luphezulu ukholo nokona kuphezulu ukuxhumana noThixo. Ingxelo yobomi bakhe ixela ukuba isono sizisa kuphela ihlazo nentlungu, kodwa uthando nenceba kaThixo, zifikelela kwezona nzulu, nokuba ukholo luyawuphakamisa umphefumlo oguqukayo ukuba uxhamle ukwamkelwa njengomnye woonyana bakaThixo. Kuko konke ukuqinisekisa okuselizwini laKhe, obu bobunye bobungqina bokunyaniseka, kobulungisa, kunye nomnqophiso wenceba kaThixo.ANa 754.4
