    There appears on this page this statement: “The war against the Bible inaugurated an era which stands in the world’s history as ‘The Reign of Terror.’”WWPGC 22.5

    The whole outbreak of the French Revolution is interpreted in this chapter as being a war against the Bible; but the histories of that period represent this outbreak as being a protest against the arbitrary authority of both state and church. In harmony with this idea is the fact that the king was beheaded previous to the inauguration of the Reign of Terror, and before the worship of the Goddess of Reason was established.WWPGC 22.6
