Speaking of a young lady who was very careful of her words, a young man said, “You know she won’t talk nonsense. If you can get a girl to do that you can lead her on to almost any length. But you cannot get a start with her.”BEST September 16, 1901, page 600.1

Young ladies, be careful of your words. Be pleasant, but when anyone attempts to lead you into small talk, don’t go.
