Trust in the Lord, March 3

Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord. Psalm 144:15.RRe 64.1

We should never give to the world the false impression that Christians are a gloomy, unhappy people. If our eyes are fixed on Jesus, we shall see a compassionate Redeemer, and shall catch light from His countenance. Wherever His Spirit reigns, there peace abides. And there will be joy also, for there is a calm, holy trust in God.—The Desire of Ages, 152.RRe 64.2

“Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the Lord, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency.” Deuteronomy 33:29.RRe 64.3

It was God’s purpose that by the revelation of His character through Israel men should be drawn unto Him.... All who, like Rahab the Canaanite, and Ruth the Moabitess, turned from idolatry to the worship of the true God, were to unite themselves with His chosen people. As the numbers of Israel increased, they were to enlarge their borders, until their kingdom should embrace the world.RRe 64.4

God desired to bring all peoples under His merciful rule. He desired that the earth should be filled with joy and peace. He created man for happiness, and He longs to fill human hearts with the peace of heaven.
