    Education Begins in Earliest Years

In the discipline given during the first years of childhood, parents are making lasting impressions upon the minds of their children. It is in these early years that they are laying the foundation of character.7MR 8.1

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it,” are the words of the wise Solomon. In the earliest years children may receive those principles which will determine their future life and destiny. The education and training of youth commences with the child in its mother's arms. At this early age the temper and spirit of the child may be encouraged or repressed.—Manuscript 43, 1900, 12. (“Fragments,” August 2, 1900.)7MR 8.2
