These things he said: and after that he saith to them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go that I may awake him out of sleep.WBS — John 11:11

Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleepeth he will do well.WBS — John 11:12

Now Jesus spoke of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking rest in sleep.WBS — John 11:13

Then said Jesus to them plainly, Lazarus is dead.WBS — John 11:14

And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless, let us go to him.WBS — John 11:15

Then said Thomas, who is called Didymus, to his fellow-disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.WBS — John 11:16

Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.WBS — John 11:17

(Now Bethany was nigh to Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs distant.)WBS — John 11:18

And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.WBS — John 11:19

Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat in the house.WBS — John 11:20

Then said Martha to Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.WBS — John 11:21

Martha saith to him, I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.WBS — John 11:24

Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:WBS — John 11:25

And whoever liveth, and believeth in me, shall never die. Believest thou this?WBS — John 11:26

She saith to him, Yes, Lord, I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.WBS — John 11:27

And when she had so said, she went and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.WBS — John 11:28

As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came to him.WBS — John 11:29

Now Jesus had not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.WBS — John 11:30

The Jews then who were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary that she rose hastily, and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth to the grave to weep there.WBS — John 11:31

Then when Mary had come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying to him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.WBS — John 11:32

When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping who came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled;WBS — John 11:33

And said, Where have ye laid him? They say to him, Lord, come and see.WBS — John 11:34

Jesus therefore again groaning in himself, cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.WBS — John 11:38

Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith to him, Lord, by this time his body is offensive: for he hath been dead four days.WBS — John 11:39

Jesus saith to her, Said I not to thee, that if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?WBS — John 11:40
