BURWELL, Anthony Lee (c. 1806-1873) and Achsah (1810-1886)

Church members and farmers, originally from Panton, Vermont, later settling in Parma, Michigan. The Burwells took part in the Millerite movement and became Sabbathkeepers at some point between 1850 and 1852. During the 1850s their property doubled in value, perhaps as a result of new opportunities in connection with their move to Michigan in 1856. Ellen White wrote two letters to Anthony Burwell in 1857 cautioning him against becoming ensnared in materialism.1EGWLM 800.1
