LOBDELL, Edward (1817-1883)

Originally a Methodist, Edward Lobdell, a brickmason from Portland, Maine, joined one of the Adventist bodies in 1854. He united with the Sabbatarian Adventists in 1858 after attending public meetings held by James White and J. N. Loughborough in Portland. James White openly praised Lobdell in the Review for his generous financial support of various church ventures. Three brief visits by the Whites to Edward Lobdell are recorded. He did not marry.1EGWLM 863.1
