LANDON, Warren E. (1824-1913) and (first wife) Mary F. (1824-1883) and (second wife) Adeline E. (1828-after 1900)

A blacksmith by trade, Warren Landon spent most of his life in Connecticut after moving from Vermont in his early years. Although initially “opposed bitterly” by his wife, he left the Baptist Church in 1853 and became a Sabbatarian Adventist, soon to be joined by Mary. Scattered notices in the Review indicate that Warren Landon was an active layperson, holding meetings in his house, paying for extra copies of the Review to share with friends and relatives, and occasionally serving on various New England Conference committees in the 1880s. The only extant letter from Ellen White relating to the Landons dates from 1859, in which she counseled them to exercise “decision and firmness in the government of their children.”1EGWLM 858.5
