    It is said that the Council of Constance “was called, at the desire of Emperor Sigismund, by one of the three rival popes, John XXIII,” This matter seems to be presented in a somewhat different light by Bower in his History of the Popes, under “John XXIII, the two hundred and fourth bishop of Rome.” In the three-volume edition of Bower, this matter is found in volume 3, pages 175, 176.WWPGC 14.10
