O vývoji učení o odpustcích v době reformace viz článek dr. H. C. Lea “Indulgences in Spain”, uveřejněný v Papers of the American Society of Church History, roč. 1, str. 129—171. O ceně tohoto historického aspektu píše dr. Lea v úvodu: “Nedbajíc na spor, který zuřil mezi Lutherem, dr.
